Today I read all of the material given to me about the World War I activities scheduled for 2017. What a busy bunch of veterans and genealogists! The workshop on March 11 was attended by about 28 persons interested in obtaining more information about their WWI ancestors.

Looking ahead, don’t miss the WWI display at the Neva Lomason Library in Carrollton starting May 1, 2017. More displays are planned in October and also in May and October of 2018.

A special Memorial Day event honoring those Carroll County military killed-in-action during WWI will be held at the Carroll County Veteran’s Memorial Park on May 27, 2017. Guest speaker will be David Shuey (History Teller Productions) appearing as General John J. Pershing.

The above World War I recruitment poster “I Want You . . .”, is by artist James Montgomery Flagg, from the Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division.
